Christmas Night...Almost too full to breathe!  How does that happen?  You sit around, chat, open presents, have a glass of wine and, bingo! you've eaten too much... and all of it sooooooooooooooooooooo good!  Why is everyone in my family such a great cook?  Mac was making hors d'oeuvres with his paternal grandfather, then helping with mashed potatoes.  Karen made pomegranate Martinis for everyone who wanted one.  Never had one before.  Sweet, cinnamonny... yummy!   Don't want to have too many of those! Then, there was turkey, squash, parsnips, tourtière (Bill made it), along with Caesar salad and other goodies.  Too much... but lovely.  We are now at Erica's, where the dog is trying to track the cats, to no avail.  Very frustrating when the damned things hide on you, you know.  Erica's street is blocked in the middle where there are branches down all over the road.  It is really treacherous down here.  There are tree limbs sticking out of the strangest places.  Bill and Karen's backyard (Erica's parents in law, where we we had the yummy dinner) is completely littered with the branches of 100 year old trees.  So sad, and quite frightening.  Must have been really awful to listen to them crack and fall.  Lots of people in the city are still without power, and the Don Valley Parkway is dark.  The lights are out.  Scary.
The day was snowy, pretty, loud, filling and so very happy.  Let me know how yours was.
Night, night.

  1. Even though your weather was terrible, you still were able to spend time with loved ones, to eat, drink and be merry! We had a quiet day and went to church last night, where we sang carols, and had a wonderful message from our Pastor.
