Coffee always fresh...

Coffee always fresh...

Tuesday 25 February 2014

The boss had work to do in Haliburton today, so I went with him.  My friend/boss, Rita, is just back from a "bucket list" trip to South Africa, and there was no work to be had there, so I looked forward to a day away from the computer.

It was a beautiful, sunny day, and once the boss had his work in the metropolis of Haliburton done, we drove towards Huntsville on Highway 35 then 60.  On the way to highway 60, between hwy 117 (Baysville) and the turnoff for 60 at Dwight, I looked out at a yet frozen expanse of river/marsh, and there were several beautiful deer. We backed the car up, and the dog was all ears as she looked our her window. She did not bark or fuss, though, which is a first for her, because she is really attuned to other beasts around her (her most "unfavourite" beast at the moment being Charlie, the next door cat, who has demonstrated his superior intellect on several humiliating occasions).

Anyway, we managed to back up safely and poised in awe of this gathering of deer, who must now be leaving their yards in search of fresher food.

Maybe it means spring is coming. I can only hope. However, a friend of mine advises that may not be the case.
He just may be right.  Damn the man!

Nevertheless, on our way to Huntsville, we spotted no less than 12 deer in various locations, all looking sleek and very healthy.  Such a beautiful sight to see.

I will show the pictures to my students at the Literacy Society in the morning. The ladies will be thrilled to see them.  Let me know what you think of these beauties, will you?  See you soon.

  1. Great picture of the deer; Jim would love it. I will enlarge and show him when he gets awake. Glad you got out for the drive, breaks the monotony right? You have done so good with your blog.
