Coffee always fresh...

March 1, 2014... guess what? More snow...

This is getting tiresome, to say the least. I changed my background in hopes Spring would follow.

We are dog sitting today, as Matt and family have gone to the city to check out open houses. They hope their condo will sell soon, and they will be able to take up residence closer to Toronto. For their sake, but not mine, I hope it will happen soon, too.  The drive to the new place of work is long and arduous at this time of year, and Matt needs all his energy and good humour to deal with a situation which has been allowed to malinger for too long. There is so much for him to do there. In many ways that is very good.  Keeps him busy; however, it would be nice to be able to just do his job and not rearrange the whole workplace in order to get things done properly. I know he is up for the challenge, so that doesn't worry me a bit.

Drove Jackson and Shannon (girlfriend) to another friend's house yesterday afternoon for a going away get-together, as she is moving away from Gravenhurst. The girl's grandmother is a long time friend of mine, and I know she will miss her granddaughter.

I finally broke down and bought some decent dressmaker's shears yesterday. I also had to get some pins to pin up the curtains I bought, which are far too long. Who has 9 foot ceilings?  Not I, for sure. So, today, I am working on those and doing some edits. Don't think I'll be going far, as the boss is going to work and probably taking my car. He is in Gravenhurst today, so he will pick up the dog, too.

If any of you are following the situation in the Crimea, does it strike you it is another Northern Ireland in the making? Not on religious grounds, but on Russia's perceived need to "protect Russian citizens" there. I see a large storm brewing over that one.

I have come to the point where I no longer watch the news. I get the information I want or need from the 'net, as it is easier for me to read it than listen to all the noise the commentators make. Most of them, I think, are paid by the word and just love to hear themselves talk. Reading the information doesn't put someone else's perspective in my head, and I can distill the reporting.

I share with you this Maxine thought for the day. She seems to always get it right!

  1. My goodness, it sounds strange for you to say Jackson and his girlfriend. lol How did our grands get to that age? I dont watch the news on tv....it is too stupid for me. I do read some things online, just to say I am not totally out of the loop.

  2. Yup, her name is Shannon. J will be 15 in three weeks. How did that happen? I have known you since he was tiny. Long time, my friend.

If you copy and paste this video, it is a good friend and neighbour of E's. She and her husband produced it and it has gone viral. Enjoy.
